The Pipeline

From raw file to dashboard, without the manual work in between.

Export from Catapult the same way you always have. Everything after that runs on its own.

What happens between export and dashboard.

Built on Azure. Powered by Catapult OpenField. Visualised on your dashboard.

01
GPS data ingested
10Hz Catapult files uploaded directly. Session date and metadata extracted from the device headers automatically.
02
Player identity resolved
Name-first registry handles device swaps and export inconsistencies without manual intervention.
03
Session classified
Match-day offset automatically assigned from schedule context — training and match days understood in relation to each other, not treated in isolation.
04
Metrics aggregated
Five effort zones. Accel/decel counts. EMM as the composite load figure. Every metric benchmarked against your own targets.
05
Dashboard live
Published automatically. Your analyst sees the session before the players have showered.
~10 min routine upload

Built for the way performance staff actually work.

Every session broken down the same way — by effort zone, by time window, and always measured against a target you control.

Load management
Session, acute, and chronic load — side by side, every morning
Daily load with a full date spine — rest days counted as zeros, not omitted. Acute (7-day) and chronic (21-day) windows tracked in parallel. Spikes flagged before they become injuries.
Player capacity
Every player benchmarked. Every deviation visible.
Target values configured per player, per session type. Who's underperforming their norms and who's being overloaded is visible on sight — colour-coded, not buried in a column of numbers.
Multi-club, isolated by design
Your data stays yours.
Every club's data is logically isolated within the platform — no club ever sees another's. Onboarding a new club takes hours, not months.
Visualisation
Power BI. Your tool. Your workspace.
No proprietary viewer to license. No new interface to learn. Zonal IQ publishes directly into Power BI — live-connected, fully configurable, ready to present to your board.

One dashboard. Two ways to read it.

A coach and a performance analyst don't need the same depth of detail — Zonal IQ is built to serve both without compromising either.

Readable at a glance
Colour-coded formatting means a coach can see who's trending high or low without reading a single number — no reading glasses required.
As deep as an analyst wants to go
Every metric splits into effort zones for anyone who wants to dig further, and the terminology itself adjusts to match how technical the view needs to be.

Under the hood.

You don't need any of this to use Zonal IQ. But if you've ever fought with raw GPS data yourself, here's why what reaches your dashboard is more trustworthy than what comes off the device.

Data hygiene
Cleaned and interpolated automatically
Wearable GPS data has a known problem: messy, noisy stretches from signal dropout and device error. Those sections are identified and interpolated automatically, before anything reaches a table — a real improvement over raw Catapult output.
Acceleration
Derived, not taken at face value
Raw accelerometer data from GPS wearables is notoriously unreliable. Acceleration is derived from velocity and position data directly, rather than trusting the device's raw accel stream — a more defensible foundation for the zones and load figures built on top of it.
Infrastructure
One connected pipeline, on Azure throughout
Upload, processing, storage, and the dashboard itself all run on the same Microsoft Azure infrastructure — no handoffs between disconnected tools, and enterprise-grade security backing every step.

See it running on real data.
